Renee Sagebear
Even work on small paintings can take days, (working little by little), I notice myself feeling almost afraid as I begin, but then, once the pristine canvas is tackled, it’s full steam ahead.
About Renee
My inner child artist resurfaced thirty-five years ago during a floor cloth painting workshop. The instructor inspired timid artists to overcome their fear of the blank canvas by deliberately applying wild strokes in order to annihilate the blank canvas.
Voila; I began to paint one oil cloth after another. Over time I’ve reigned myself in to create smaller works.
I mostly paint in acrylic but I also play with oil pastels and torn paper collages.
Two well-known artists whose work inspires me are Emily Carr and Natalie Goldberg.
